LED panels are one of the few technologies that can compete with raster luminaires when it comes to functionality in offices or work rooms. Their slender appearance and efficiency in the diffusion of light find more and more followers.

LED technology

When we talk about LED lighting, we should put aside the measure of efficiency in the Wat unit, as in the case of tungsten light bulbs. Parameters that you should be interested in are:

  • RA - color rendering index, tells us to what extent the light bulb is able to reproduce the original color.
  • The number of Kelvin - determines the color temperature of light. It can be assumed that below 3300 K we have a warm white color, from 3300 to 5000 K with cool white, and above 5000 K with a daylight.
  • The number of Lumens - says about the brightness of the light source.
  • The angle of light radiation - ideally 360 degrees. It determines the width of the light beam.
  • Watt number - determines energy consumption.

When comparing LED technology to classic light bulbs, it's best to use a simple example. A classic bulb with 100 W energy consumption produces light with a brightness below 1400 lm. LED bulbs are able to illuminate with a brightness of 80 - 100 lm with 1 W consumption. Per 100 W, an LED bulb would produce between 8,000 and 10,000 lm.

LED panels

Usually we can meet standard LED panels with dimensions of 60 x 60 cm, 30 x 30 cm, 30 x 120 cm. The most sought-after size is the universal 60 x 60 cm. Smaller than they are installed in small rooms: basements, storage rooms, bathrooms. Larger in offices or places with large areas. It is assumed that one standard 60 x 60 cm panel is enough to illuminate a medium sized room.

The biggest advantage of LED panels is their ability to evenly emit light. It works perfectly in corridors or more intimate salons. In rooms designed for work such as a workshop or kitchen, it is a good idea, in addition to panels, to use additional directional lighting.

LED panels are an excellent choice when it comes to durability and ecology. Nature lovers will appreciate the fact that thanks to the use of LED panels they contribute to reducing the pressure on the natural environment. Thanks to LED technology, there is no need to use heavy metals such as mercury, which is still difficult when it comes to proper waste disposal. In the context of garbage, it is also worth mentioning the less frequent replacement of lamps compared to traditional incandescent bulbs, which translates into a reduction in the amount of unnecessary material deposited in landfills.
