ALGARVE 8685 is a round recessed downlight 12 cm across whose whole body is only 1.6 cm deep. That figure decides where it can be used: the fitting goes in where there is almost no space above the ceiling.

A 55–95 mm cut-out — one fitting for many ceilings

The most practical feature of this model is its adjustable cut-out range of 55 to 95 mm. In a refit that means it will drop into apertures left by older downlights of various diameters — no filling and re-cutting. At 1.6 cm deep and 140 g it also suits stretch ceilings, where both weight and recess depth are limited.

Light: 1400 lumens at 180°

15 W gives 1400 lumens at a neutral 4000 K. The beam angle is 180°, so the fitting does not make a tight pool like a spotlight but lights a room broadly and evenly — closer to a flat panel than a spot. That distribution comes from the acrylic diffuser closing its face. The colour rendering index is 80, standard for general lighting.

Before you buy

The diode is not replaceable: the manufacturer states 30,000 hours and as many switching cycles, after which the whole fitting is changed. The model is not dimmable and should not be paired with a dimmer. Protection class II means no earth conductor is required, and IP20 places it in dry rooms.
