RHIO is a wall-mounted shelving unit measuring 120 × 36 × 181 cm, made up of six shelves whose front edges are cut into a soft wave. The structure is laminated board in a Villa walnut shade.

The wave is the only decoration

The whole effect of this piece rests on one move: instead of a straight edge, every shelf ends in a gently undulating front. Repeated six times, it builds a vertical rhythm that softens the plain geometry of an open shelving unit. The rest of the form is deliberately restrained — no handles, no fronts, no visible fittings — so that what stands on the shelves, rather than the furniture, holds the eye.

Wall-hung, not floor-standing

RHIO mounts to the wall; it does not stand on the floor. That changes two things. First, the floor beneath stays clear, which makes the room read as larger and is easier to clean — worth having in small living rooms and narrow studies. Second, at 40 kg empty and with six levels to fill, the fixings have to suit the wall: standard plugs are enough in masonry, while plasterboard needs molly anchors or fixing into the studs. Six levels across 120 cm

A width of 120 cm and a depth of 36 cm give shelves that take hardbacks, ring binders, archive boxes and audio equipment alike. At 181 cm the unit stops below a typical ceiling, so there is space above it and it does not read as built-in joinery. Six levels let you separate functions: the lower ones for heavy, everyday items, the upper ones for display.

Material and finish

Laminated board in Villa walnut resists scratches and airborne moisture, is easy to maintain and dimensionally stable — it does not move with humidity the way solid timber does.
