ROCHELLE is a pendant from Design For The People, designed by Charlotte Høncke: three slender black heads on a shared stem, with chrome details and pale shade interiors. Three GU10 sockets, up to 8 W each.

Three heads, not one

This matters at the point of purchase: the fitting has three independent light points, not one. The heads are elongated rounded tubes set at different heights and tilted in different directions, so the light does not fall as a single column but as three oblique washes. Each needs its own GU10 bulb of up to 8 W — so plan on buying three light sources, not one.

Black outside, pale inside

The heads are matt black outside and pale within. That difference is not ornamental: the dark outer surface keeps the fitting from spilling light sideways and keeps it visually light, while the pale interior reflects the beam downwards and softens the contrast at the shade edge. The stem and the collars are chrome — a cool metallic accent Nordlux sets deliberately against the matt black.

Suspension: three metres of cable, and a hook

The cable is 300 cm long with a black textile braid, and the maker states explicitly that it is **not replaceable** — shortening is done by coiling inside the canopy, not by cutting. The canopy is 12.5 cm across. The fitting is suited to hook suspension, which lets it be moved away from the ceiling outlet — useful when it has to sit exactly over a counter or a kitchen island. The whole lamp stands 44 cm tall by 20.7 cm wide and weighs 2.4 kg.

Dimming and operating conditions

The fitting itself contains no dimming electronics — brightness control is possible only if the fitted bulbs are dimmable and the circuit has a suitable dimmer. The construction works in protection class II, meaning it is double insulated and needs no earth connection. IP20 confines it to dry rooms, and the manufacturer separately notes that it is **not intended for seaside use** — salt air shortens the life of the finish. Light sources are not included.
