Clifton is a three-light pendant 38.5 cm across in which the shades are cut faceted glass — clear solids with cut faces, set in metal finished in bright nickel. This is no frosted diffuser: the facets refract the light and throw a shifting pattern of highlights onto ceiling and walls, changing with the angle you look from.
Adjustable height — from 40 to 142 cm
The fitting hangs on a 1.2 m chain with clear cable. Shortening the chain during installation sets the overall height anywhere between 40 cm and 142 cm — a very wide range for a pendant. In practice the same product hangs low over a dining table and high in a room with a low ceiling, where 40 cm is all you have.
Three E14 lamps, dimmable
The fitting takes three replaceable E14 lamps up to 6 W (LED); lamps are not included. The manufacturer states that the fitting is dimmable and recommends E14 LED lamps — with exposed faceted glass, decorative candle lamps with a visible filament work best: they are what produce the point highlights in that glass which the whole design is built around. Dimming requires dimmable lamps and a compatible dimmer.

Installation
The lamp weighs 3.11 kg — more than a typical fitting this size, mostly because of the glass. When mounting into a plasterboard ceiling, use an anchor passing through the board into the structural slab rather than a board plug alone. The fitting is class I, so the circuit needs a PE earth conductor. Chain length is set before hanging, by removing links.
Where it works
Faceted glass and the highlights it throws show best where the lamp hangs low and close to the viewer — over a dining table, over a kitchen island, in a hall. In a room with a smooth, light ceiling the pattern of reflections is more defined than against a textured one. The Clifton family also includes a five-light version and an antique brass finish, so a dining room and a hallway can be lit coherently.
