SOHO WALL 2 BLACK is a wall light made of two independent arms leading off a single small wall plate. The arms are of different lengths and can be set at any angle to each other, and each carries two knuckle joints so the conical shade can be aimed wherever it is needed. Everything is powder-coated matte black - a raw, thin frame with no ornament, straight out of workshop-floor aesthetics.
An 88 cm reach is not a mistake
The wall plate is barely 18 cm wide, but the arms reach 88 cm out from the wall. That is the most important number on this product: it is not a flush wall fitting but a lamp that pushes light out over a bed, a sofa or a worktop without taking up space on the furniture. At that reach it is worth checking the walkway - in a narrow hallway the fitting will be in the way. Overall height is 28 cm and the shades are 14 cm across each.
Two E27 sources
The fitting runs two E27 lamps, one in each shade; the catalogue rates each socket at a maximum of 15 W LED. Bulbs are not supplied - in the assembly instructions the manufacturer lists them alongside the drill and screwdriver, among the things you provide yourself. Because the shades are open at the bottom and point wherever the joint is turned, a decorative filament bulb looks right here; for reading, a frosted bulb is the better choice as it does not glare at close range.
Cord with a switch
Aldex fits the Soho series with a long cord and an inline switch, so the lamp can be hung regardless of where the supply comes out of the wall - the cord simply runs to the nearest socket. That saves chasing new cable when a bedroom or living room is rearranged, and the switch on the cord means the light can be turned off without getting up.
Installation and use
The fitting is fixed with two screws through the rectangular wall plate; the instructions call for two drilled holes with plugs. The whole lamp weighs 1.7 kg, but at 88 cm of reach that load acts on the anchors as a lever - in plasterboard you need to hit a stud or use board anchors. The IP20 rating restricts the fitting to dry interiors.

There is also a GLASS variant with a glass shade, available in cobalt as well. If you are planning a light on each side of a bed, the single-arm versions are usually more practical; the twin model suits a room where the supply comes out at one point only.
