Five cognac cylinders on a single canopy

SARTANO LE45168 is a cluster: one round canopy 34 cm across, from which five glass shades hang on black cables at different heights. Each shade is a slim cylinder of cognac-tinted smoked glass with horizontal waists — a rhythm that draws lighter and darker rings on the glass once the light is on. Structure, holders and canopy all share the same gold finish.

The whole fitting is one product on one back box, not a set of five separate pendants. Maximum suspension height is 275 cm, so the composition can be stretched down the full height of a stairwell or shortened over a table — the unequal cable lengths are part of the design, not an accident.

The light it gives

Each shade holds an integrated LED module of 3 W and 180 lm, giving 15 W and 900 lm for the fitting as a whole. That figure is deliberately modest: cognac glass filters and warms the output, and 3000 K pushes it further towards amber. The result is a soft evening mood with clearly visible golden shades — not a room flooded with light. Over a dining table, treat SARTANO as atmosphere lighting and add a separate source for close work.

The fitting is dimmable, and it needs an external dimmer working on the TRIAC principle (leading-edge phase control). That is an important detail before buying: 0–10 V dimmers, DALI and controllers using any other protocol will not work with it.

Installation and service

It runs on 230 V and carries IP20 protection, so it is for dry interiors only. At 4.5 kg the ceiling and its fixings have to be rated for the load — with plasterboard that means through-anchors or fixing to the structure behind. The light sources are permanently built in and are not user-replaceable, which is normal where the diode forms part of the glass cylinder itself.

Where it works

A cluster 34 cm across with up to 275 cm of drop has two natural homes. The first is a round or square table — five shades spread from one small canopy give the effect of five separate pendants without five back boxes in the ceiling. The second is a stairwell or a tall hall, where the differing cable lengths work vertically and the fitting is seen from several levels at once. Gold and cognac glass sit well with dark timber, marble and deep, saturated wall colours.
