The V-TAC VT-831 is a round facade luminaire 13.3 cm across, projecting 6.7 cm from the wall. Its black polycarbonate body forms an incomplete ring with a large milky diffuser showing beneath it — hence the manufacturer's name Sami-Frame. The built-in SMD LED module delivers 610 lm from 7 W in a warm 3000 K, and its IP65 rating puts it outdoors.
IP65 — genuinely rated for rain
V-TAC classifies the VT-831 as a facade lamp in its house-and-garden range. The first digit, 6, means a dust-tight enclosure; the second means resistance to water jets from a nozzle. In practice it copes with heavy rain, facade washing and settling dust, so it belongs beside a front door, on a terrace wall, by a garage or along a driveway. The same sealing is also more than enough for a bathroom.
The manufacturer gives a working range of −20 to +45 °C and notes the fitting is not intended for extreme conditions. A normal northern-European winter sits inside that range; frost below −20 °C does not.
610 lm from 7 W, 110° beam
Efficacy works out at roughly 87 lm/W. 610 lumens is about what an old 50 W incandescent gave — enough to light a doorway, a house number or a stretch of wall clearly, not enough to light a garden. The 110° beam gives a wide, soft pool rather than a narrow shaft, and the milky diffuser scatters the light further, so it does not dazzle anyone standing beneath it.
3000 K is warm white — friendlier on a facade than neutral 4000 K, and less attractive to insects than cold light. Colour rendering is above 80 and colour consistency is under 6 SDCM, so several units mounted side by side will light in the same shade.
The source is built in and cannot be replaced
This is an integrated SMD LED luminaire — there is no socket and no bulb. The manufacturer declares a life of 20,000 hours and over 15,000 switching cycles, which matters on a fitting driven by a motion sensor, where the number of starts climbs faster than the burning hours. Start-up is instant (0.001 s), with no warm-up. The fitting is not dimmable — its entry in the EU EPREL registry confirms it.
Wiring and mounting
The luminaire runs directly on 220–240 V, 50/60 Hz mains and connects by L/N conductors; the manufacturer supplies a quick connector. Energy efficiency class is F, EPREL registration number 1220433. Net weight is 0.33 kg, so ordinary wall plugs are enough. Manufacturer's warranty: 2 years.
