The V-TAC VT-407 is a spotlight for a 230 V three-circuit track: an 18 cm aluminium body with an adjustable head, clipped straight into the rail by its 3-phase adapter. The integrated LED module draws 7 W and delivers 420 lm in warm 3000 K, in a narrow 24° beam.
The 24° beam — what it is for
Twenty-four degrees is an accent angle, not a general one. Such a beam lays a defined circle of light with crisp edges, so the spotlight belongs over a specific object: a picture, a window display, a shop shelf, a bookcase or a section of wall. To light a room evenly you need several units spaced along the track, or a fitting with a wider angle.
Light quality — where this model earns its price
Data from the EU energy-label registry EPREL (number 986256, filed by V-TAC) shows the parameters that genuinely matter in accent lighting:
-
CRI 90 — a high colour rendering index, clearly above the market standard of 80;
-
R9 = 60 — the red component, the hardest for LEDs. A value of 60 means reds, timber and skin tones keep their saturation; on typical fittings R9 drops below 20;
-
SDCM 3 — a three-step MacAdam ellipse, i.e. tight binning: successive fittings on the same track will emit the same shade of white, with no visible variation;
- flicker PstLM 0.1 and stroboscopic effect SVM 0.1 — very low figures, which matter for on-camera work and for long exposure to the light;
- lumen maintenance factor 0.96 and survival factor 1.0.
The price of that quality is low efficacy — 60 lm/W and energy efficiency class G. Narrow optics and high CRI always cost lumens; this fitting is engineered for light quality, not for the electricity bill.
Control and supply
In the EPREL declaration the fitting is marked as not dimmable — it must not be connected to a dimmer. It draws power straight from the track: 220–240 V, 50/60 Hz, with no separate driver. The power factor is around 0.5, which is worth allowing for in the circuit calculation when many fittings share one supply.
Mounting
The fitting clips into a three-circuit (3-phase) track — the standard where one rail carries three independently switchable circuits, letting you split the fittings into groups on separate switches. The body is aluminium in white, measuring 180 × 40.5 × 50 mm and weighing 0.33 kg. The IP20 rating restricts it to dry indoor rooms. The manufacturer declares more than 15,000 switching cycles and a 5-year guarantee; the product carries CE, EMC and RoHS markings.
