s.luce was founded in 2003 at Licht-Design Skapetze in Simbach am Inn, Bavaria. The lamps are designed in house, moving from a hand sketch through a 3D-printed prototype to a production-ready model. The result is clean geometry meant to complete a room rather than compete with it. Series are developed over years and a single model usually comes in many versions, so one line can be carried through a whole home.
Pendants and chandeliers for the dining table and living room form the core of the range, alongside ceiling lights, wall lights and table and floor lamps. The largest series are Orb, Velo, Echos, Ring and Belluna, joined by Santa, Oris, Cruet, Ball, Beam, Atom, Cloud, Modular and Ixa. Each comes in several sizes, glass colours and numbers of light points, from a single lamp to a multi-light arrangement over a long table.
Glass paired with metal is the most common combination; plain metal, aluminium, the marble base of the Ball arc lamps and concrete on the Ixa wall lights appear less often. Shades come in clear, smoke and brown glass, including graded versions and some finished with gold leaf, while the metal is white, black, gold, copper or aluminium. Models with an integrated LED usually run at 3000 K warm white, less often 2700 or 4000 K, and most of them dim. The rest use an E27 holder, sometimes E14, so you can change the bulb yourself.
Two series work as systems. The Ixa LED wall light is a 10 cm square that throws light up and down, also available with a motion sensor and in IP44, and its square base cover can be ordered in a different finish from the fitting itself. Modular is a kit of shades, ceiling roses with one to six outlets, spacer suspensions and cable shorteners that you combine into your own pendant; Lunares sells these parts separately. The accessories also include a touch dimmer module.
This is an indoor brand: almost the entire range is IP20 and belongs in living rooms, dining rooms and hallways. Only a handful of IP44 fittings suit a bathroom, and a narrow group rated IP54 and IP65 works outdoors, chiefly the Globe Pro garden spheres of 30 to 60 cm. Because variants of one model differ mainly in glass colour and size, check the exact diameter and height on the product page, along with the number of light points, whether it dims, and whether the LED is built in or the bulb is replaceable.
