AIDA WHITE is a fitting from the AIDA series: white painted metal, a jointed arm and a dome shade 14 cm across with an E27 lampholder inside it. The manufacturer files it as a ceiling light, and the AIDA family also includes wall versions on the same arm.
The arm that adjusts
The arm is made of two sections joined by pivots: a longer one of 46 cm and a shorter one of 12 cm ending in the shade. The joints let the arm fold and aim the light at a chosen spot, so the fitting does not only light what sits directly beneath it. The manufacturer gives 75 cm as the largest dimension at full extension; that is the figure to measure out on the ceiling or the wall before the arm starts catching a cupboard or a door frame.
The round canopy is 10 cm across. It is worth comparing with the opening the previous fitting leaves behind, because with a smaller rose the mark of the old fixing tends to stay visible.
Shade and lamp
The shade is 14 cm across and open at the bottom, so the lamp is visible from below and the light falls as a concentrated cone. The pressed metal dome lets no light through sideways, which together with the movable arm makes this a fitting for lighting a particular spot rather than a whole room.
The lampholder takes an E27 thread and carries one lamp. The manufacturer's product card states neither a maximum lamp wattage nor whether a lamp is included, so both are worth confirming before ordering.
Material, power and installation
The whole structure, from the canopy through the arm to the shade, is metal painted white. The fitting weighs 1 kg, so fixing it needs no heavy-duty anchors, but the arm acts as a lever and the fixing point should land in the structure behind rather than in the plasterboard alone.
The fitting runs on 230 V, and the IP20 rating restricts it to dry interiors.
