Aldex Riva 2 Mustard 1086H14 Pendant Light – Mustard Frame, 2 White Glass Globes, 2x E14

The Riva 2 Mustard is a pendant light with an elongated oval metal frame in light mustard yellow (RAL 1005), holding two white glass globes one above the other. The frame hangs on a white cord from a small ceiling canopy in the same yellow. This is the 1086H14 version from Aldex's Riva collection.

Dimensions and hanging height

The fitting is 18.5 cm wide and 14 cm deep, with an overall height of 200 cm including the cord. According to the manufacturer's drawing, the frame with the globes is about 46 cm tall, the cord 154 cm, and the canopy 10 cm across. The cord can be shortened, but the manufacturer specifies that an electrician does this — so decide the length before installation by comparing the 200 cm with your own ceiling height.

The narrow, vertical body takes up little width, so the lamp suits places where a wide shade would be in the way: above a bedside table in the bedroom, over a dining table or in the kitchen. Over a table, the bottom of the frame is usually set 70–80 cm above the top.

Bulbs and light

The lamp has two E14 sockets, and the manufacturer specifies an LED bulb of up to 10 W for each. More important than the wattage is the space inside the globe: the bulb must be slim and no taller than 10.2 cm, because it sits inside a 14 cm glass globe. A longer candle or decorative filament bulb will screw in but will not fit under the globe.

Both globes are on one circuit — they switch on and off together and cannot be split across two switches. The white glass spreads the light evenly in every direction, so the lamp gives soft, diffused light, with the colour chosen along with the bulbs.

Installation and construction

The canopy is fixed to the ceiling with two screws and wall plugs. The fitting has an earth terminal, making it Class I — it needs a supply with an earth conductor, and the manufacturer expects installation by an electrician. The whole lamp weighs 1.4 kg. The mustard colour applies to the metal frame and the canopy; the glass globes are white. The style is modern: a simple geometric frame and smooth, undecorated globes.
