Asbol Round outdoor wall lamp black Nordlux

Asbol Round is an outdoor wall light in black lacquered aluminium, with a 15 cm body rounded at both ends. Light leaves through two circular lenses closed with clear glass — one facing up, one facing down. The LED module is built in and supplied with the fitting.

Three light effects in the box

The manufacturer supplies three light effects with the fitting and shows in its own photographs how they differ: a broad, soft cone covering a good stretch of wall, a narrow band running close to the render, and a fan of rays spreading outwards. The choice is made during installation and decides how much wall the fitting picks up.

Whichever you pick, the light travels in two directions — up and down — so the fitting draws two symmetrical patches on the wall rather than lighting the space in front of it. It is made to pick out a façade, a garden wall or a pier by the door, not to light a driveway across its full width.

How much light it gives

Inside are two LED modules of 6.5 W each, 350 lm each, adding up to 13.3 W drawn by the whole fitting. 3000 K is warm white — warmer than daylight, cooler than a traditional incandescent bulb — and a colour rendering index of Ra 80 is the usual figure for outdoor lighting.

The light source cannot be changed: the modules are permanently built in, so at the end of their life the whole fitting is replaced. The manufacturer also states plainly that the fitting is not dimmable — neither a dimmer nor a controller changes that.

Mounting and conditions outdoors

The fitting is 15 cm tall and 6.7 cm wide, stands 9.5 cm off the wall and weighs 0.54 kg — a load an ordinary fixing into render or brick will carry. An IP54 rating means protection against dust and against splashing water from any direction, so it goes on an open wall with no canopy above it. IK05 describes how much impact the housing takes.

The fitting is Class 1, so a protective earth conductor has to reach the back box. It has built-in through-wiring: several fittings in a row along a façade can run off one circuit instead of a separate feed to each. The manufacturer does state, however, that it is not intended for seaside locations.
