Bollard Light NORLYS Asker Pro 5217AL Aluminium 55 cm LED 7.7W 4000K IP65

The NORLYS Asker Pro 5217AL is a 55 cm bollard light: a plain vertical profile ending in a head cantilevered forward. The body is powder-coated cast aluminium in aluminium RAL 9006, and a rectangular lens held by four screws sits under the head.

Size and how it is fixed down

The bollard stands 55 cm high, the head reaches 20 cm forward and the profile itself is 11 cm wide — the latter two are what to compare with the width of the path it will light. The luminaire alone weighs 3.04 kg.

The base bolts down through four ø8 mm holes spaced 18 × 50 mm. No foundation is supplied: the concreting anchor (1907ZX0009), the ground anchor (1908GA0009) and the mounting adapters are ordered separately, so one of them adds to the purchase.

How much light it gives

The luminaire delivers 654 lm for 7.7 W — roughly what an old 60 W bulb gave, aimed downwards onto the paving. At 4000 K the light is neutral white, clearly cooler than warm incandescent light, and Ra 80 colour rendering is enough to tell planting and paving apart by colour after dark.

The Ledil VSM lens produces a rotationally symmetrical distribution (IESNA type V), so the light spreads evenly around the bollard rather than to one side. The LED module is built in together with its optics — there is no bulb to buy, and the maker rates it at 109,000 h to a 10% drop in output.

Dimming and wiring

The fitting dims on the trailing edge. A dimmer described as RC or trailing edge is therefore required; an older leading-edge R or RL dimmer will not drive it.

The terminals take conductors up to 3 × 2.5 mm², and luminaires may be looped through with up to 3 × 1.5 mm² — a whole row along one path then runs from one supply line rather than a spur to each unit. The EPDM gland accepts round cable up to ø12.5 mm in diameter. The luminaire is protection class I, so the circuit has to carry an earth conductor.

Construction and resistance

IP65 means full dust protection and resistance to water jets from any direction, while IK08 describes resistance to a 5 J impact — on a fitting standing beside a path that matters as much as the sealing. The lens is transparent PMMA, the seal silicone and the gland EPDM.
