Bradbury is an open chandelier of steel rods bent into a basket-like cage. Five candle sockets stand on a ring, and curved leaves close the frame off at the bottom. The finish is antique white — a matt, rubbed-back coat with warm gold particles showing through on the leaves.
How big it is and how low it hangs
There is no shade, so the ring diameter is what sets the proportions: 63.6 cm, with the fitting itself 60.8 cm tall. Over a table 90–100 cm wide that diameter keeps its proportion; over a narrower top the chandelier will overhang the edge.
130 cm of chain is supplied for adjusting the suspension. The overall drop, from ceiling to bottom edge, runs from 68.8 cm to 200.8 cm — with a standard 250 cm ceiling the shortest setting leaves more than a metre of clear space above the table.
Which lamps to buy
The fitting takes five E14 lamps of up to 40 W each, and none are included, so colour and brightness are yours to choose. The sockets are candle sockets and fully exposed, which makes the look of the lamp part of the look of the chandelier.
The manufacturer recommends the Litec E14 candle lamp at 4 W, 400 lumens and 3000 K. Five of those add up to roughly 2,000 lumens, which is enough for the main light in a dining room. The chandelier carries no driver of its own, so dimming depends on the lamp: it needs lamps described as dimmable and a dimmer in the circuit.
Construction and installation
The frame is steel throughout and weighs 3.4 kg; the box with chain and ceiling pan weighs 6.4 kg. The fitting runs on 220–240 V mains and is Class I, which means it has to be connected to an earth conductor.
The manufacturer intends it for interiors only. Bradbury is a Quoizel design distributed by Elstead Lighting, which gives a two-year guarantee on the fitting. The same model is also made in a grey ash finish.
