The Italux Monza is a chandelier 70 cm across, built from five brass arms radiating from a central hub. The product code carries the digit 5 — for the number of arms — but there are ten light points: each arm holds two shades, one facing up and one facing down.

Why two shades per arm

That arrangement gives two kinds of light from one fitting. The downward shades light the table surface; the upward ones bounce light off the ceiling and fill the room with a soft wash. The result is lighting with no dark zone above the chandelier — a common problem with conventional pendants that send all their light down.

Materials and scale

Arms, hub and ceiling rose are steel in a brass finish. The shades are white glass in a rounded, cup-like shape. The fitting is 28 cm high, or 50 cm including the suspension, so at 70 cm across this is a lamp for rooms of ordinary ceiling height, hung over a table or in the centre of a living room. Above a table, keep the usual 70–80 cm from the tabletop to the bottom edge of the shades.

Lamps and choosing wattage

The fitting takes ten E27 lamps of up to 40 W each; the manufacturer does not supply bulbs. Classic and LED both fit — and across ten points LED matters in practice: ten 40 W incandescents come to 400 W, while LED equivalents give a similar amount of light at roughly a tenth of the draw. The chandelier can be dimmed, but only when the lamps fitted are themselves dimmable. IP20 places it in dry interiors, and the manufacturer gives a two-year warranty.
