CORTINA is a metal floor base for lampshades, topped with an E27 lampholder. It stands 131 cm tall, is finished in white and rests on a flat square base measuring 23 cm on each side. Neither the shade nor the bulb is included β both are chosen separately.
How much space it takes and where to put it
The 23 Γ 23 cm base covers less floor than a splayed tripod, so the stand fits the narrow gap between an armchair and the wall, or beside a chest of drawers. At 131 cm it matches the usual height of a floor lamp next to a seat β with a shade fitted, the light falls from above onto the chair and onto whatever you are holding.
The structure weighs about 1.8 kg, so you can move it with one hand. The cable leaves the edge of the base and runs along the floor, with the switch set low on it, within reach β you never have to reach under the shade to the lampholder.
Shade and light source
The E27 lampholder takes a source of up to 15 W, wired directly to the 230 V mains. There is no driver or transformer in the stand, so the bulb screws straight into the holder. No bulb is supplied, which leaves the light colour and brightness to you.
The manufacturer names four shades from its own range for this base: CONNY 25/30, CONNY 35/30, RON 40/25 and TEMPO 30/19. Each is bought separately and fitted onto the lampholder.
Which interiors it suits
The body is made entirely of white-painted metal, with no visible joints. A thin vertical tube and an unprofiled base give it a modernist shape β the stand does not compete with the shade, it simply lifts it to height.
It works in the living room beside the sofa, in the bedroom next to the bed and in a corner of the dining room. In a hotel or restaurant it lets you place several identical lamps and dress them in shades chosen to match the room.
