Dorado Smart LED Recessed Downlight IP65 White Nordlux

Dorado Smart is a round recessed downlight in white, 8.5 cm across the visible trim. The trim ring is plastic, the body behind it metal, and the light comes from a built-in 4.7 W LED module. Colour temperature and brightness are set from a phone over Bluetooth.

The cut-out you need in the ceiling

Nordlux specifies a 7.2 cm mounting hole, and the body reaches 6.8 cm up into the ceiling — that is the clearance you need above the board. The visible ring measures 8.5 cm, so it covers the edge of the cut-out with room to spare.

The fitting is held by spring clips and weighs 0.112 kg, which a suspended ceiling carries without any reinforcement. Nordlux does state, though, that it must not be built directly into thermal insulation — the space above the cut-out has to stay clear.

How much light it gives and of what kind

The LED module puts out up to 360 lm and dims down to 10 lm, so one fitting covers both full light at the mirror and a low night glow. Colour temperature is adjustable across 2200–6500 K, from a warm, slightly orange light close to a traditional bulb through to cool white.

The beam spreads at 36°, so the downlight throws a concentrated cone straight down — lighting a whole room takes several units, while a single one works over a specific spot. Colour rendering is Ra 80. The light source is fixed in place and cannot be replaced; Nordlux rates it at 20,000 hours.

Control from a phone

The fitting pairs with the Nordlux Smart Light app over Bluetooth Mesh, with no separate gateway. Brightness, colour temperature and saved scenes are set from the phone, and the mesh network lets you control several fittings at once.

The dimming electronics sit inside the fitting, so there is no dimmer to buy and no dimmable bulb to look for.

Where it may be installed

IP65 means full protection against dust and against water jetted from any direction, which is why Nordlux clears the fitting for both bathrooms and outdoor use. The same specification states that it is not intended for seaside installations.

It runs on 220–240 V, and Class II construction means no earth conductor is required. Nordlux permits parallel connection, so several fittings can share one circuit.
