FALLON is a round surface-mounted ceiling light in white, 10 cm across and 6 cm high. The LEDs are permanently built in and the light comes out through a round plastic cover framed by a narrow ring. The body is metal.
Size and mounting
The fitting is fixed to the surface of the ceiling, so no hole has to be cut and no clear space above the board is needed. Once mounted it stands 6 cm off the ceiling and occupies a 10 cm circle.
Nordlux supplies an external connector block, and the fitting is protection class II, so no earth conductor is required. The manufacturer allows parallel connection — several fittings can run off one circuit, which matters because a single one lights a limited part of a room. It weighs 0.275 kg and is intended for indoor use only.
Three light settings from the same switch
FALLON has the Moodmaker™ function: successive clicks of an ordinary wall switch move the fitting through three settings — first the whole light is on, the second click dims the centre to 50%, the third leaves only the ring lit. No dimmer and no separate controller are needed for it.
How much light it gives, and what kind
The built-in LEDs deliver 500 lumens at 5.5 W of power draw — less than a former 60 W bulb, so one fitting works as a supplementary point of light or in a row with several others. The 110° beam angle spreads the light widely beneath the fitting.
2700 K is a warm, slightly yellow light close to a traditional incandescent bulb, and a colour rendering index of Ra 80 is enough for living spaces. The manufacturer states 20 000 hours of LED life, and the light source cannot be replaced — after that the whole fitting is replaced. The energy efficiency class is F.
