Garden Lantern Head NICE 5001AL Aluminium RAL 9006 LED 4000K Norlys

NICE 5001AL is the lantern head on its own: three angled struts form an inverted cone and a flat safety-glass disc sits on top. The body is powder-painted cast aluminium in RAL 9006, sealed with a silicone gasket. The LED module fires upward into the disc, so the light comes down reflected rather than straight off the diode.

What is included and what has to be bought separately

You are buying the luminaire without a pole. The head slides onto a 60 mm diameter tube to a depth of 95 mm, so the pole or mast has to be on hand or ordered separately; the mounting adapter (index 154) and the reductions 3070 and 7665 for other tube diameters are also sold separately.

A 4.5 m H05VV-F 3G1 cable comes out of the luminaire, intended to be joined inside the pole in a suitable installation box. That length reaches down through a typical pole to its base, but the joint itself is made below ground or in the plinth.

The light it gives

The luminaire emits 3092 lm while drawing 38 W, which is 81.4 lm/W. The diodes produce 5412 lm and the difference stays on the disc: that is the price of reflected light, which does not glare, because from pavement level you never see the source itself.

At 4000 K the light is neutral, closer to white than to yellow, and colour rendering is CRI 80. The distribution is symmetrical and all-round. Upward waste is 9.11% of the flux (ULOR), a figure worth checking wherever sky-glow limits apply to a lantern with a top disc. The fitting is not dimmable.

Dimensions and weight

The head is 70 cm tall and 55 cm in both other axes. It weighs 7.29 kg net and 9.56 kg packed; the carton measures 80 x 62 x 62 cm.

Norlys computed the photometry for a 4 m mounting height and the luminaire is designed for a pole of that order.

Materials, resistance and service

Cast powder-painted aluminium and the glass disc give an IP65 rating, and the manufacturer specifies operation from -20 to +45 degrees C. The luminaire is class I and therefore requires a protective earth conductor. The anti-corrosion warranty runs for 25 years.

The LED module and the driver are replaced by an authorised service, and Norlys stocks the ZS5001zx0015 service set for this luminaire. Module life is given as more than 60 000 h and the driver's as 50 000 h.
