Gardette is a table lamp on a polished aluminium tripod with a black cylindrical fabric shade. The centre column telescopes up and is clamped by a lever on the ring that joins the legs, so the height is set once the lamp already stands where it will be used.
How tall it is and how much room it needs
With the column fully extended the lamp measures 74.4 cm: 22.4 cm of that is the shade, and the column rises to 52 cm. Collapsed it is markedly lower, so the same lamp suits a low side table and a tall chest of drawers.
The shade is 30 cm across and the legs spread wider still. Compare those 30 cm with the depth of the surface before choosing a spot: on a narrow bedside table the shade will overhang the edge. The lamp weighs 1.05 kg, so it is the spread of the legs rather than the mass that keeps it steady.
What light it gives and what to buy with it
The lampholder takes one E27 bulb of up to 15 W. No bulb is supplied, so you choose the colour and brightness yourself: 2700-3000 K, warm light with a yellowish cast, is the usual pick for a living room or bedroom. The 15 W figure is the ceiling for this fitting, not the power it draws.
The shade is fabric, so alongside the light thrown downwards some passes through its walls. The maker publishes neither a lumen figure nor a colour temperature, because both depend on the bulb you fit.
Switch and height adjustment
The lamp runs on 230 V and ends in a lead with a plug. A rocker switch is recessed into a chromed collar directly below the lampholder, at the top of the column, so you switch at the lamp itself rather than hunting for a button on the cable.
The height changes with a single lever: release it, slide the column, tighten it again. No tool is needed.
Which room it is meant for
The maker intends Gardette for indoor use only: living room, bedroom and dining room, and hotel and restaurant interiors. The form is modern and rests on one contrast, the smooth glossy tubes of the stand against the matt black weave of the shade, with no ornament at all.
