Alessia is a pendant light shaped as a white ring, 61 cm across and only 8.5 cm tall. The centre of the ring is open, so you see the ceiling through the fitting, and the whole ring hangs from three thin wires that meet at a round white ceiling canopy. The light comes from a built-in LED module, fed by a cable that runs up through the middle.

How big it is and where to hang it

The 61 cm diameter is the figure to compare with the width of your table, or with the size of the room if the light is to hang centrally. The ring is just 8.5 cm tall, so from the side it looks light and does not block the view, even though it covers a large area seen from below.

The manufacturer gives an overall height of 120 cm, suspension included. Over a dining table the lower edge of a pendant usually hangs 70–80 cm above the tabletop – check that distance against the height of your own room before choosing where to install it.

How much light it gives, and what kind

The LED module draws 50 W and delivers 2750 lm. For comparison, an old 60 W bulb gave about 800 lm, so Alessia is bright enough to be the main light in a room, not just a mood light. 3000 K is warm white: calm light without the yellowish tint of a traditional bulb and without the coolness typical of offices. The 120° beam angle means a wide spread that covers a larger area beneath the lamp.

The LED is built in permanently: there are no bulbs to buy, but the module cannot be replaced by the user either. The light can be dimmed with a TRIAC (phase-cut) dimmer; on an ordinary switch it runs at full brightness.

Which rooms it suits

The manufacturer intends Alessia for living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms and studies. It also works over a kitchen table and in hotels or restaurants, wherever bright, even light from a single fitting is needed. A plain, smooth ring with no ornament and a single white finish make it a modern form that sits well with pale walls and simple furniture.

The frame is made of a metal alloy and the diffusing element of acrylic. The fitting is designed for dry indoor rooms.
