Nesto SPL-23436-2-BK is a two-head spotlight bar from the Polish brand Italux — 24 cm long, in a sandblasted black finish, with two independently adjustable heads of 5.5 cm diameter.

Two directions from one supply point

The whole point of a spotlight bar is that one ceiling box gives you two independent beams. Both Nesto heads rotate and tilt separately, so one can light a kitchen worktop while the other picks out a picture on the adjacent wall.

It works wherever new wiring cannot be run: above a hallway mirror, on a loft slope, over a bookcase, in a shop display. The fitting mounts on either the ceiling or a wall — the base is symmetrical, and the heads are aimed after installation anyway.

Sandblasted black — matt, not lacquered

Italux gives the colour as “sandblasted black”, and it is not the same black as a standard gloss paint. The surface is finely grained and deeply matt: it does not throw back point reflections, it does not show fingerprints, and it visually absorbs the body of the fitting, so the bar draws less attention on a pale ceiling than a glossy equivalent would.

The body is made of aluminium and steel. The aluminium in the heads doubles as a heatsink — it pulls heat away from the GU10 lamp, which translates directly into lamp life.

2 x GU10 up to 10 W — you choose the lamp and the beam

The fitting takes two GU10 lamps of up to 10 W each and does not include lamps. Italux notes that both conventional and LED sources fit — but the 10 W ceiling is clearly set for LED, not for old 35–50 W halogens. That matters: fitting a powerful halogen would exceed the head's permitted thermal load.

Because it is a GU10 base, you decide two things that the fitting itself cannot change:

• Beam angle — 36° to accent a single object, 60° to cover a wider stretch of worktop or wall.
• Colour temperature — 3000 K for a living room or bedroom, 4000 K over a work surface or in a display.

Buy two identical lamps from the same batch: with two heads side by side, a colour difference is visible at a glance.

Dimming depends on the lamp

Italux describes the fitting as “dimmable with a suitable light source” — and that wording is literal. Nesto is two GU10 sockets on mains voltage with no control gear at all. For dimming to work you need dimmable GU10 LED lamps and a dimmer rated for LED loads. With two sources of a few watts each the total load is very small, so an old leading-edge dimmer will usually flicker — a low-threshold LED dimmer is required.

Things to bear in mind

IP20 restricts installation to dry rooms — Nesto is not suitable for bathroom zones 0–2 or for outdoor use. The fitting does not include lamps; order two GU10s alongside it.

A 5-year warranty is longer than most makers give on a fitting with a replaceable socket — here it covers the fitting itself, not the lamps, which you buy separately.
