Karlstad 230CG is an outdoor wall light from Norlys with a Scandinavian shape: a curved arm rises from a round wall plate and carries a flat, conical shade above a clear cover for the bulb. The fitting is finished in cement grey and its body is made of steel. Norlys notes that it can also be mounted on the corners of buildings.
Dimensions and installation
According to the manufacturer's drawing the fitting is 25.5 cm tall and projects 42 cm from the wall, on a round wall plate of 11.5 cm. Compare those 42 cm with the width of the path or doorway below — the shade hangs well in front of the facade and throws light down onto the step or walkway. The wall light weighs 1.47 kg.
It is fixed with the mounting box supplied in the box. The terminals take conductors up to 2 × 2.5 mm², and the round-sheathed cable must be 7–10.5 mm in diameter to seal in the cable gland. Further fittings can be looped through with cable up to 2 × 1.5 mm², so several lights along one wall run from a single supply line. Mounting on a building corner needs the 153XX0009 corner bracket, sold separately.
Which bulb to use
The light has an E27 socket and comes without a light source. Norlys allows an LED bulb of up to 9 W in an A55–A60 shape and no longer than 110 mm, so a wider decorative globe will not fit under the cover. The manufacturer suggests an 806 lm / 8.5 W / 2700 K LED bulb for this fitting, which gives warm light about as bright as an old 60 W bulb. The bulb is replaced by the user.
Built for outdoor use
IP55 protection means the fitting is protected against dust and water jets, so it can hang on a facade without a canopy. The bulb cover is clear UV-stabilised polycarbonate that does not yellow in sunlight, and IK09 impact resistance protects it at entrances and driveways. The light is protection class II, so it needs no earth conductor. If the cover is ever damaged, Norlys supplies it as a spare part (service kit 06240000).
