The LED V-TAC VT-80070 ground spike garden light is a spotlight with a black aluminium housing, mounted on a spike driven into the ground. The spotlight head sits on a hinged bracket, so it can be tilted and pointed in any direction.

Mounting and aiming

The overall height once the spike is driven into the ground is 24.8 cm, and the head is 7.8 cm in diameter. The spike goes straight into a lawn or flower bed, with no need for a concrete anchor. The hinge between the spike and the head lets you set the light angle independently of how the spike sits in the ground.

How much light it gives, and what kind

The integrated LED source (not replaceable) draws 10 W and outputs 880 lm, which at 90 lm/W is roughly as bright as an old 75–80 W incandescent bulb. The light is neutral white at 4000 K with a 40° beam angle, so it works as a narrow spotlight rather than area lighting — suited to picking out a single tree, shrub or garden feature. A CRI of 80+ lets you tell leaf and bark shades apart after dark.

Outdoor durability

An IP65 rating means the light can stay outside permanently, including in the rain. The manufacturer states more than 15,000 on/off cycles and an average source lifespan of 18 years at 3 hours of use a day — after that the whole fixture is replaced, since the LED is integrated and can't be swapped out on its own. It runs on standard 220–240 V mains, and the warranty is 2 years.
