TAVENCO LE45210 is a narrow pendant in smoked glass – a shade 10 cm across and about 21 cm tall, hung on a black cable that lets the fitting drop to as much as 2 metres.
Smoked glass, black fittings
The shade is an elongated bell – a straight cylinder at the bottom easing inward towards the top and finishing in a black collar. The glass is smoked: semi-transparent and graphite-toned, so with the light off you can make out the shape of the interior, and with it on a warm point of light shows through. Canopy, shade collar and cable are all black, so a single thin dark line runs from ceiling to shade.
This is a different proposition from an opal shade: smoked glass does not diffuse the light, it dims and tints it. The fitting throws its light clearly downwards while the shade itself stays a dark object lit from within – closer to a lantern than to a milk-glass globe.
205 lumens – what that actually means
A built-in 5 W LED giving 205 lm at 3000 K is included. That is not much: roughly a 25 W incandescent bulb of old. Take it literally – this fitting will not light a room. It is an accent and decorative piece: one on its own over a bedside table or in a hallway, while over a kitchen island or a table it takes a row of three to five at 25–35 cm centres to produce a sensible amount of light and the intended rhythm.
3000 K is warm and works with the graphite glass – cooler light would read grey through this shade. Efficacy is about 41 lm/W, an ordinary figure for a decorative fitting with a darkened shade: some of the output stays in the glass.
The lamp is built in
This matters at purchase: the LED is integrated into the fitting; there is no replaceable lamp. Nothing to buy separately and no risk of choosing the wrong colour, but equally no way to change output or tone later, and the life of the module is the life of the fitting. It is not dimmable – the manufacturer does not provide for use on a dimmer.
Build and installation
The construction combines steel, aluminium, glass and acrylic: metal carries the canopy and the shade mount, glass gives the visible form, acrylic diffuses at the diode. Supply 230 V, protection IP20 – dry interiors only, so over a kitchen island yes, in a shower zone no.
The cable, up to 200 cm long, is shortened to the height you need during installation. Over a worktop, 70–80 cm from the surface to the bottom of the shade is the usual figure; with a fitting this narrow you can go a little lower, since it does not block the view.
