ANTRIM has no plug. It is a battery-powered floor lamp, set down wherever it is wanted — beside a chair, by a bed, out on the terrace — with no regard for a socket and no cable trailing across the room.

The battery: 50 hours, wireless charging

Inside are two lithium-ion cells of 2200 mAh. The maker states up to 50 hours of running at full output and 6 hours for a full charge. It charges wirelessly on the included induction pad — the lamp is simply stood on it — or over a 200 cm USB-C cable. The cells are not user-replaceable.

Two heads, each tilting

On the 120 cm column sit two independent shades, each tilting vertically, only 3 × 3 cm in section and 11 cm tall. The light is thrown downward, and the tilt lets it be split between two people sitting side by side — which is where this fitting's role as a reading lamp comes from.

How much light

Each module gives 256 lm from 2.2 W, so 512 lm together, at 2700 K — warm, evening white. That is light for reading and for atmosphere, not for lighting a room.

Dimming by touch

Brightness is set with a touch sensor on the fitting itself — there is no remote, no app and no wall dimmer, because there is no installation to connect one to.

IP54 — the terrace too

The IP54 rating means protection against dust and against water splashed from any direction. In practice the lamp will take an evening on the terrace and a passing shower; it is not meant to be left outdoors permanently or immersed.

Build and life

The body is aluminium, spray-painted matt black, cylindrical in section. Declared diode life is 100,000 hours over 10,000 switching cycles. The maker gives 5 years' warranty on the fixture.
