Lucide XERA Wall Light, Black with Gold Interior, G9, 10 cm, 23253/01/30

The Lucide XERA 23253/01/30 is a wall light shaped like a box of aluminium, open at the top and at the bottom. The outside is matt black, spray painted, and the whole inner surface is finished in gold.

Light goes up and down

The shade has no diffuser and no baffle — both ends are open, so the fitting throws two symmetrical beams, one up the wall above it and one down below. What you see on the wall is a pair of triangles of light with the body itself staying dark. The gold lining reflects the light before it leaves the shade, which gives the beams a warmer cast than the bulb alone produces.

Size and mounting

The body is 10 cm high, 8.2 cm wide and stands 10 cm out from the wall — that last figure is the one to check in a narrow hallway, where the fitting eats into the passing width. Behind it sits a rectangular black aluminium wall plate of 8 × 7.5 cm and 1.8 cm thick, fully covered by the body. Mounting hardware is included. The fitting is electrical class I, so the wall box has to carry an earth conductor. Its IP20 rating keeps it to dry interiors, and the whole thing weighs 0.3 kg.

Bulb and dimming

The G9 lampholder takes one light source of up to 42 W. No bulb is supplied — Lucide points to its own 49095/03/31 for this fitting, a dimmable G9 LED of 3.5 W at 2700 K and 1.6 cm across, which fits the tight body. The light can be dimmed, but it carries no control electronics of its own: that needs a dimmable bulb plus a dimmer bought separately for the circuit. Without them it runs off an ordinary switch. Lucide gives it a two-year warranty.
