The Atom C016CL-01W is a surface-mounted ceiling light in a plain cylindrical shape: 8.5 cm across and 11.5 cm deep. The body is aluminium in a white finish, and a recessed metal ring conceals the rim of the bulb from below. It belongs to Maytoni's Atom series.
How much room it takes and how it is fitted
The fitting projects 11.5 cm from the ceiling over a circle 8.5 cm across, so it stays unobtrusive even in a low room and can be repeated in a row. It weighs 0.32 kg.
Mounting is on the surface: a plate with a terminal block screws to the ceiling, the body slides onto it, and the trim ring around the bulb goes in last. No cut-out or void above the ceiling is needed, so it works where a recessed downlight cannot — a concrete slab, a sloping roof, a ceiling with no suspended void.
What light it gives and which bulb to buy
Atom takes a single GU10 bulb of up to 10 W. No bulb is supplied: the manufacturer's energy label rates the luminaire as compatible with bulbs, not as one with a built-in source. The 10 W limit settles the choice on LED, since GU10 halogens rated 35 and 50 W exceed it; you pick the colour temperature with the bulb.
The opaque cylinder sends all the light downwards, in the cone set by the beam angle of the bulb. One fitting lights a defined spot — a worktop, a picture, an armchair — not a whole room; for general lighting several go in a line. The luminaire is not dimmable.
Where it belongs
The shape is modern and modernist in the plainest sense: a smooth cylinder, uniform white, no ornament, no visible screws. The white body blends into a pale ceiling and stays discreet with the light off.
The manufacturer intends it for living rooms, bedrooms and dining rooms, and for hotels, restaurants and hallways — anywhere directional spot light is wanted without cutting into the ceiling.
Build
The aluminium housing carries heat away from the bulb, which matters for temperature-sensitive LED sources. The luminaire is protection class II, so it needs no earth conductor, and IP20 rates it for dry rooms. Maytoni backs it with a five-year guarantee.
The Atom series offers the same body in black (C016CL-01B) and as the twin-lamp C017CL-02B, so variants can be combined in one interior.
