The MEMO METAL 140 is a rectangular coffee table built entirely from metal and painted red in RAL 3020. The top is a thin flat sheet and the base is made of slim square-section rods; a diagonal cross runs along each of the long sides and stiffens the frame. The table belongs to the MEMO METAL collection and is made in Poland.
How big it is and where it will stand
The top measures 140 × 80 cm, which is a lot for a coffee table, so compare that figure with the length of your own sofa and with the distance from it to the wall or the television. Around a piece of furniture one usually allows about 80 cm of clear passage, so in practice the table asks for a strip roughly 160 cm wide.
The top sits 45 cm above the floor, about the height of a chair seat, so a mug or a remote is within reach from the sofa without leaning down. The open base of thin rods leaves the floor visible underneath, so a piece this size takes up less of the view than a closed body would.
What it is made of
The whole structure, the top included, is metal finished in RAL 3020 lacquer - a saturated signal red, the same on the frame as on the top. The surface is smooth with a slight sheen, and the corners of the frame are welded with no visible fittings.
The form is industrial and minimalist in the literal sense: all you see is the rods of the frame and the sheet of the top, with no drawers, shelves or handles. The same collection includes two smaller tables and a console, so the shape can be repeated elsewhere in the room.
