Namsos 1930 Recessed Wall Light Aluminium LED 8.3 W 3000 K NORLYS

Namsos 1930 is a square wall-recessed luminaire that shows only a flat 22 × 22 cm front with a louvred opening in its lower half. The body is powder-coated die-cast aluminium in aluminium RAL 9006, and satin safety glass sits behind the louvres. The LED module and driver are built in, so the luminaire arrives ready to connect.

How big it is and how it goes into the wall

The front measures 22 × 22 cm and the body sinks 12 cm into the wall. Norlys gives two cut-out sizes: 215 × 215 × 115 mm for a solid wall and 200 × 200 × 95 mm for a layered wall. The recess has to be prepared before installation, ideally while the steps or wall are being built — compare the depth with the thickness of the wall you plan to use.

The manufacturer intends it for lighting stairs, steps and stairwells, walkways and for washing ceilings with light. It suits a garden, a hotel or restaurant entrance — anywhere the fitting should disappear into the masonry rather than stand out from it.

What light it gives

The luminaire draws 8.3 W and delivers 566 lm at 3000 K, a warm white. That is less than an old 60 W bulb, but all of it goes downwards onto the steps or paving below: ULOR is 0%, so no light escapes above the fitting and none shines into windows higher up.

It can be dimmed with an ordinary phase dimmer, both trailing-edge and leading-edge types. Norlys states an LED lifetime above 102,000 h (L80), and if the module or driver fails, a service technician can replace it instead of the whole luminaire.

Build and wiring

IP65 means it is dust-tight and protected against water jets, so it can sit in an outdoor wall without extra cover, and IK08 rates its impact resistance — relevant on stairs, where the front is within reach of feet. The gasket is silicone and the cable gland EPDM.

This is a protection class I luminaire, so it needs a protective earth conductor. The terminals take cables up to 3 × 2.5 mm², and fittings can be looped through with up to 3 × 1.5 mm² — several points on one flight of steps do not each need a separate cable run. Norlys allows up to 75 of these luminaires on one B16 circuit breaker.
