Nono 49 DFTP Pendant Lamp White Ø 49 cm E27 max 50 W, Metal Shade

Nono 49 is a pendant lamp with a conical metal shade 49 cm across and 24,8 cm tall, in matt white RAL 9016. An acrylic diffuser closes the lower opening of the shade and hides the bulb — from the side and from below the light source itself is not visible.

How big the shade is and how high to hang it

The 49 cm diameter is best compared with the width of your own table — the shade should be clearly narrower than the top. The drop is usually shortened so the lower edge of the shade sits 70–80 cm above the table; the light then covers the whole table surface without shining into the eyes of people seated at it.

The cable is 300 cm long, sheathed in white textile and — as the manufacturer states outright — not replaceable. The canopy is 12,1 cm across and the whole lamp weighs 1,6 kg, which keeps it within the load a normal ceiling hook takes; a plasterboard ceiling needs a fixing into the supporting structure.

The light it gives

The fitting takes one lamp with an E27 base rated up to 50 W. No bulb is supplied, so you choose the colour and the brightness yourself — over a dining table 2700–3000 K is the usual pick, a warm, slightly yellow light.

The metal shade is opaque and the acrylic diffuser spreads the output downwards, onto the surface below the lamp. Dimming is possible, but it needs a dimmable bulb and a dimmer — the lamp itself carries no control.

Build and the rooms it suits

The shade is metal, the diffuser plastic, and the surface is a silky matt with no gloss. The fitting works in protection class II, so no earth conductor is needed in the connection box.

Nono was designed by the Danish studio Bønnelycke MDD for the Design For The People brand, starting from simple geometric solids — hence the clean cone with no ornament and the single flat colour. The manufacturer intends it above all for the dining table; in the Lunares catalogue it is additionally assigned to the living room, the bedroom and hotel and restaurant interiors.
