Nordlux IVONA 4-Spot Pendant Light Brass Opal Glass 4xE27

IVONA 4-Spot is a Nordlux pendant light with four opal glass globes set on curved arms around a brass body. The manufacturer describes this design by the Danish studio Says Who as a contemporary take on the classic chandelier. It hangs from a white textile-covered cable.

Dimensions and mounting

The light is 54.2 cm wide and 41.5 cm high, and each globe is 20 cm in diameter. Compare the width with the table or the open space the light will hang over — above a dining table the lower edge of the globes usually sits 70–80 cm above the tabletop. The cable is 200 cm long and cannot be replaced.

The round canopy, 12 cm in diameter, is fixed directly to the ceiling — the manufacturer does not intend the light to hang from a hook. Mounting screws are not included and have to be chosen for the type of ceiling. The fitting weighs 2.28 kg.

Bulbs and light

There are four E27 holders, each for a bulb of no more than 28 W; bulbs are not included. That limit rules out traditional 40 W and 60 W incandescent bulbs, and LED bulbs meet it most easily. The milky opal glass diffuses the light, so the bulb itself is hidden and each globe glows across its whole surface.

The light can be dimmed if dimmable bulbs are fitted and it is connected through a dimmer. It is a class II, double-insulated fitting, so it needs no protective earth conductor.

Mouth-blown glass and character

The globes are mouth-blown and shaped by hand. The manufacturer points out that air bubbles may appear in the glass and that the wall thickness can vary slightly — a result of the technique, so each globe is a little different. Brass combined with white glass gives a modern form with a touch of glamour. The light suits a dining table, a living room or a bedroom, as well as hotels and restaurants. The same series includes a black version.
