A glass block on a graphite body

ARENDAL MINI sets two quite different materials side by side. The body is a cast aluminium, powder-coated in graphite — a dark matt grey, noticeably lighter and bluer than black. On it sits a block of clear crystal glass with a cylinder satin-frosted on the inside hidden within. The effect is distinctive: from outside you see the sharp edges and reflections of the glass, while the light emerges from the matt core without glare.

439 lumens at the source, 330 lumens out of the fitting

Both figures are worth understanding, because the manufacturer publishes them separately. The LED module itself emits 439 lm, but through the satin diffuser and the glass, 330 lm leaves the fitting — the rest is scattered in the optic. That is normal for a fitting with a diffuser, and that very loss is what produces soft rather than point light. Luminaire efficacy is 82.5 lm/W at 4 W. The 4000 K colour is neutral — legible at a doorway and on a façade, without a yellow cast. CRI 80, colour consistency SDCM3, power factor 0.95.

Dimming and Class II

The fitting is dimmable with a trailing-edge phase dimmer — standard on modern LED dimmers, though it is worth checking that yours works in that mode. Built to protection class II, it is double insulated and needs no earth conductor brought to it, which on an older house's façade can be decisive. Inrush current is 17 mA for 60 ms — relevant when a dozen fittings hang off one switch.

Durability: IP55/65 and IK06

The manufacturer states the rating as IP55/65 — depending on how it is mounted, the fitting meets splash or full jet protection. Impact resistance IK06 corresponds to a 1 J blow. Operating range: −20 to +45 °C. The gland is nylon 6, a material resistant to UV and ageing.

Mounting and looping

Fixed through two ø 5 mm holes at 34 × 54 mm spacing. Terminals accept conductors up to 2 × 2.5 mm², and the manufacturer permits looping further fittings through with up to 2 × 1.5 mm² — so a run of wall lights along a façade can be wired without a box at every point. Round cable up to ø 12.5 mm.

An honest note about the diffuser

The manufacturer states outright that the diffuser may take on an amber tone over time. That is a natural property of the material under UV, not a fault — but it is better known before purchase, especially when planning a run where some fittings stand in full sun and others in shade.
