Norlys Asker Big 5105CB Outdoor Wall Light, Copper Brown, LED 13.7 W 4000 K, Up/Down, IP65

Asker Big Pro 5105CB is an outdoor wall light shaped as a rectangular block of cast aluminium, powder-coated in copper brown. It shines up and down at the same time through a clear, textured polycarbonate diffuser, so it draws one band of light on the wall above the fitting and another below it.

Size and wall mounting

According to the manufacturer's drawing the light is 30.2 cm wide and 12.5 cm high and projects 12.1 cm from the wall. It weighs 2.62 kg. It can be fixed through an intermediate plate with two oval 5×10 mm adjustment holes at 45 mm spacing, which let you correct the position after the wall has been drilled, or directly through two ø5 mm holes at 68 mm spacing.

The terminals take conductors up to 3×2.5 mm², and the gland takes a round cable of 7–10.5 mm diameter. The manufacturer allows fittings to be looped through with cable up to 3×1.5 mm², so several lights along one façade run from a single supply line. It is a protection class I luminaire and must be connected to the protective earth.

What light it gives

Four integrated LED modules are included, so there are no bulbs to buy. The fitting draws 13.7 W and delivers 1313 lm at 4000 K, a neutral white with no yellow cast. CRI 80 is sufficient for lighting a façade or an entrance, and the SDCM3 colour tolerance means several lights side by side show practically the same shade.

Half of the output (ULOR 50%) goes above the fitting. This emphasises the texture and height of the wall, but it matters where there is a window or balcony above the light that you do not want lit. The manufacturer calculated the light distribution for mounting at 2.5 m.

The light is phase-dimmable and needs a trailing-edge (TE) dimmer; the manufacturer does not state compatibility with leading-edge dimmers.

Construction and intended use

The polycarbonate diffuser is UV-stabilised, so it does not yellow in the sun, and a silicone gasket and an EPDM gland seal the housing. IP65 allows mounting on an unsheltered wall exposed to rain, and IK08 rates the housing's impact resistance. The manufacturer intends it for lighting walls and façades. The smooth, unornamented box suits modern architecture; the Asker Big family also includes fittings with other outputs.
