Bergen 270BL is a Norlys outdoor wall light in a classic lantern shape: a clear polycarbonate shade hangs beneath a flat, round hat on an arm that stands out from the wall. The body is hot-dip galvanised steel, powder-coated black (RAL 9005). Light leaves through the open shade, while the hat partly screens it from above.
Dimensions and installation
The fitting projects 36.5 cm from the wall and is 22 cm high and 22 cm wide, on a wall plate 11.5 cm tall. Compare these figures with the space above the door or beside the entrance: the arm carries the shade clear of the facade, so the light also falls on the steps and path below the wall.
It is fixed with the mounting box supplied in the set. The terminals take conductors up to 2 × 2.5 mm² and allow the supply to loop on to the next fitting with up to 2 × 1.5 mm², and the gland suits round cable 7–10.5 mm in diameter. Several lights on one facade can therefore run from a single supply line. For mounting on a building corner, the maker offers the corner bracket 153XX0009 separately.
Light source
The fitting has one E27 lampholder for a bulb in the classic pear shape A55–A60, LED up to 9 W; no bulb is included, and the user replaces it. The maker designed the lantern around an 806 lm, 2700 K LED lamp, which gives the brightness of an old 60 W bulb in warm, yellowish light. A wider decorative globe or a long candle lamp will not fit inside the shade.
Weather protection and safety
IP55 means a housing protected against dust and water jets, so the light can hang on an exposed wall with no porch roof above it. The polycarbonate of the shade is UV-stabilised and an EPDM gland seals the cable entry. The fitting is protection class II, so it needs no protective earth. The shade is available as a spare part, and the Bergen series also comes in unpainted hot-dip galvanised steel.
