NORLYS Koster Pro 1814 outdoor wall light aluminium RAL 9006 LED 16.9 W 3000 K IP54

The Koster Pro 1814 is a NORLYS outdoor wall light: a round wall base, a straight horizontal arm and a dome shade facing down. The body is powder-coated cast aluminium in aluminium RAL 9006, and the shade is clear structured polycarbonate, UV stabilised.

How much wall it takes

The fitting reaches 44 cm out from the wall face — a figure to compare with the width of the path or drive beneath it, because the shade hangs over the way through. The dome alone is 24.5 cm across, the whole fitting stands 24 cm tall, and the round wall plate is 12 cm across.

It weighs 2.86 kg and fixes on three ø7 mm holes, spaced as the enclosed instructions set out. The terminals take conductors up to 3x2.5 mm² and the fitting loops through with up to 3x1.5 mm², so several lanterns run on one cable along a longer facade. The gland takes round cable of 7-10.5 mm.

The light it gives

Two Philips Fortimo FastFlex LED modules sit inside. The fitting draws 16.9 W and delivers 2007 lm at 3000 K, a warm white — brightness comparable to an old 150 W filament lamp, spread wide underneath the lantern.

A Ledil VSM lens in IESNA type V shapes the distribution, which is symmetrical and broad. ULOR is 0%: the fitting sends not one percent of its flux above the horizontal, so the light reaches neither upstairs windows nor the sky, and the BUG rating of B1-U1-G1 says the same. Ra 70 colour rendering is normal outdoors and enough to read shapes and colours on a driveway.

Supply, dimming and service

The fitting runs on 220-240 V and is class I, so a protective earth conductor has to reach the box. It dims on phase control and the manufacturer allows both edges — trailing edge and leading edge — so it works with an RC dimmer and with an older R/RL one alike. Norlys also states it is suitable for emergency installations fed with 176-280 V DC.

The housing is rated IP54 and IK10. The LED module and the control gear are replaceable by a professional, and the manufacturer stocks the service kit as ZS1814zx0010 — a failure does not mean replacing the whole lantern. Rated module life is over 100 000 h on the L90B10 criterion, and Norlys warrants the corrosion protection for 25 years.
