LILLEHAMMER DC2292GB is a facade wall light from the Norwegian brand Norlys – a small painted aluminium casting in beige grey, 18.5 x 11 x 8 cm, throwing light downwards only, at 60°.

Note: this is the low-voltage DC 24 V version

This is the most important thing to check before ordering, because the DC at the front of the index is not decoration. This variant runs on 24 V direct current, not on 230 V mains – it needs a system power supply and falls under protection class III (safety extra-low voltage). The same fitting in the mains version carries the index without the prefix: 2292GB, runs on ~220–240 V and has slightly different figures (4.5 W, 105 lm). Connecting the DC fitting to 230 V will destroy it.

Why 24 V makes sense in a garden

A low-voltage installation is a different approach from multiplying 230 V points along a facade. Cable can be run shallower and more simply, and a damaged cable carries no mains shock risk. The fittings are looped in series – the manufacturer provides terminals for up to 2 x 2.5 mm² with a through-loop of 2 x 1.5 mm², for round cable 7–10.5 mm in diameter. One supply serves a whole run across the facade.

109 lumens – light that draws rather than illuminates

Two figures from the datasheet are worth putting side by side: the LED module itself gives 512 lm, and 109 lm leaves the luminaire. That is not a loss but a deliberate move. A narrow aperture and lens cut most of the output so that the wall carries a sharp, concentrated band of light instead of a diffuse patch. The effect: the facade gains drawing, not brightness. Luminaire efficacy is therefore 30.3 lm/W, though the source itself runs at 142 lm/W.

Zero light upwards

The fitting has a ULOR of 0% – not one lumen goes above the horizontal. The manufacturer labels it dark-sky friendly. In practice that means light does not escape into a neighbour's windows or into the sky, and everything you pay for lands on the wall and in front of it. In close-set housing that is as practical an argument as an ecological one.

Built to last

Painted aluminium casting with an EPDM gland and clear glass – a set of materials chosen for the climate the brand comes from. Ingress protection IP65 (dust-tight and water-jet resistant), impact rating IK08, operating range -30 to +50 °C. Colour 2700 K (warm white), CRI 80, colour consistency SDCM 3 – several fittings side by side will not differ in tone. Rated life 52,330 h, about 47 years at three hours a night.

Installation

Fixed through two ø5 mm holes at 45 x 130 mm centres, per the supplied instructions. Net weight 1.60 kg. Country of origin: European Union.
