NORLYS Mandal 1370BL up-down outdoor wall light 2 × GU10 LED 7.8 W 2700 K CRI 97 black RAL 9005

Mandal 1370BL is an outdoor wall light with a half-round front that shines up and down at the same time. It is 9.2 cm wide, 18 cm high and projects 12.2 cm from the wall. The front is steel powder-coated in black (RAL 9005), the base is hot-dip galvanised steel, and both light outlets are closed by clear safety-glass panes.

Light sources included

Two Philips MASTER LED ExpertColor GU10 LED lamps work inside the fitting and come in the box, so nothing needs to be bought before it is first switched on. Each draws 3.9 W, 7.8 W together, and the fitting delivers 500 lm at 2700 K, a warm, slightly yellowish white. Colour rendering of Ra 97 means brick, render and plants keep their natural colours under this light.

The lamps are user-replaceable; the manufacturer allows LED sources only. Lamp lifetime is over 40,000 h with 70% of the luminous flux maintained (L70).

How the light falls

Each lamp has a 25° beam, so the wall shows two narrow shafts of light, one above the fitting and one below. Half of the light goes upwards (ULOR 50%), so the fitting picks out a facade, pilasters or an entrance well, but it is not one for places where light aimed at the sky is unwanted.

It can be dimmed with a phase dimmer, and the manufacturer allows both trailing-edge and leading-edge types. When replacing the lamps, choose dimmable GU10 LEDs to keep that option.

Mounting and durability

The light fixes with two screws through ø4.2 mm holes spaced 45 mm apart and weighs 1.45 kg. The terminals take conductors up to 3 × 2.5 mm² and allow a loop-through to the next fitting with up to 3 × 1.5 mm², and the gland takes cable of 7–10.5 mm diameter. It is protection class I, so it needs a protective earth. For mounting on a building corner the manufacturer offers corner bracket 149XX0009, sold separately.

IP44 protects against splashing water from any direction, and the IK08 rating means good impact resistance. The Mandal series also offers the same fitting in hot-dip galvanised and beige-grey finishes, and a version that shines downwards only.
