NORLYS Nora 2486CB copper brown outdoor wall light, LED 15 W 2700 K, satin glass, up and down light

The NORLYS Nora 2486CB is a flat, square outdoor wall light, 13 cm along each side, that stands only 5 cm off the wall. The body is powder-coated cast aluminium in copper brown (RAL 8004), and satin safety glass closes its top and bottom edges – these are the two sides the light leaves through. The manufacturer intends it for lighting walls and facades.

What light it gives

Two built-in LED modules deliver 610 lm at 15 W in 2700 K, a warm, slightly yellow white close to a traditional bulb. The satin glass diffuses the light and softens the beams on the wall; the clear-glass version in the same colour temperature (Nora 2483) gives 1043 lm, so the 2486 is the choice where a gentle effect matters more than maximum brightness. Light goes both up and down – half of the flux leaves above the fitting (ULOR 50%) – and draws two beams on the facade, one above the light and one below it.

The driver has a power switch from 10.9 to 15 W and leaves the factory set to 10.9 W. The 15 W and 610 lm figures apply to the highest setting, so for full brightness the switch has to be moved during installation.

Dimming and wiring

The fitting dims on a phase dimmer, either trailing edge (TE) or leading edge (LE), so it works with both dimmer types. The terminals take conductors up to 3 × 2.5 mm² and allow the supply to be looped on to the next fitting (up to 3 × 1.5 mm²), and the round-sheathed supply cable can be 7–10.5 mm in diameter. Inrush current is 10 A for 13.5 µs, and the manufacturer states how many fittings one circuit breaker can carry: B 10 A – 37, B 16 A – 60, C 10 A – 62, C 16 A – 102. It fixes through two ø5 mm holes spaced 63 × 112 mm.

Durability and service

IP65 means dust-tight and protected against water jets, and IK09 means high impact resistance. It is a protection class I fitting, so it needs an earth connection. The LED modules and the driver are replaced by a professional service – Norlys supplies service kit ZN2486XX0009 for this – and the manufacturer rates the driver at 50,000 h.
