NORLYS Nora 2499 LED outdoor wall light 8 W 4000 K DALI2 light grey RAL 9006 satin glass

Nora 2499 is a flat, square NORLYS outdoor wall light measuring 13 × 13 × 5 cm, made of cast aluminium and powder-coated in light grey RAL 9006. Light leaves only downwards, through a satin glass diffuser, and the LED module is built in and ships with the luminaire.

What light it gives

The luminaire draws 8 W and delivers 322 lm. That is light for marking an entrance, the wall beside a door or a facade, not for lighting a whole yard. The satin glass diffuses it and softens glare; the Nora 2496 version with a clear diffuser gives 585 lm at the same wattage and colour temperature. The manufacturer calculated the photometry for a 2.5 m mounting height.

At 4000 K the light is neutral white, CRI 80 is sufficient for facades and entrances, and SDCM3 consistency means several luminaires on one wall shine in the same shade. ULOR 0% means nothing shines into the sky. Control is via DALI2, so dimming needs a DALI controller rather than a phase-cut dimmer.

Mounting and connection

The luminaire is fixed to the wall through two ø5 mm holes spaced 63 × 112 mm and weighs 0.85 kg. The terminals take conductors up to 5 × 2.5 mm², and further luminaires can be looped through with up to 5 × 1.5 mm², so a row of wall lights on one facade runs on a single circuit. The cable entry takes a round cable of ø7–10.5 mm.

Inrush current is 6.7 A / 2.4 µs; according to the manufacturer one B 10A breaker carries 46 luminaires, B 16A and C 10A 74 each, and C 16A 119. The wall light is protection class I, so it needs a protective earth conductor, and installation should be carried out by a qualified person.

Durability and lifetime

IP65 means a dust-tight housing protected against water jets, and IK09 high impact resistance, which matters at an entrance or along a footpath. The manufacturer states an LED lifetime of over 102,000 h (L80) and over 52,600 h (L90), and 100,000 h for the driver. Nora is intended for lighting walls, facades and other outdoor architectural features.
