Orchidea Artificial Green Wall Mat 50x50cm

Orchidea is a square green wall mat measuring 50 × 50 cm. The artificial sprigs are set into an open, flexible mesh about 4 mm thick, and the composition uses six types of leaf between 4 and 20 cm long, with a few small white flowers among them.

How many mats a wall takes

One mat covers 0.25 m², so every square metre of wall takes four of them. The manufacturer gives a simple ordering rule: multiply the measured area in square metres by four and round up, adding an allowance for the offcuts at the edges.

The mats are laid side by side and the dense fringe of sprigs overlaps the neighbouring mesh, so the joins disappear into the foliage. The backing hides unevenness and damaged plaster, which means the wall underneath needs no smoothing or painting.

Fitting and cutting

The mesh is flexible, so the mat also follows curved surfaces — a column, a corner or a ceiling. It cuts with ordinary scissors: once trimmed to the size of the room you can cut openings in it, for sockets or switches for example.

The mesh is around 4 mm thick and stays visible along a free edge. The manufacturer suggests recessing the mat there or covering the edge with trim; where the mat meets a wall, ceiling, floor or skirting board, no further finishing is needed.

Upkeep and resistance to damp

The mat is waterproof and the manufacturer intends it for interiors, including rooms that get damp. It needs no watering, no trimming and no other upkeep, and dust rinses off with water.

The shade of green can vary slightly between production batches. For a larger wall it is worth ordering every mat at once — pieces bought later may come out fractionally different.
