ORCO Recessed Downlight White/Aluminium 230 V GU10 max 9 W

ORCO is a round recessed downlight with an outer diameter of 6.8 cm. The ring is painted white and has a matt, slightly rough texture, while the inside is filled by a brushed aluminium reflector in silver. Once installed, only a narrow white rim is visible on the ceiling.

How much room the ceiling has to give

The mounting hole has to be 6.5 cm across, and the 6.8 cm ring covers its edge. The manufacturer intends the fitting for plasterboard — that is the material in which such a hole is cut with a hole saw.

The second figure matters more: the required recess depth is 12 cm. That much free space has to remain above the ceiling panel, so the dimension is worth checking before the hole is cut — with a lower suspended frame the fitting will not go in.

Which light source you have to buy

Inside there is a single GU10 lampholder for a source of up to 9 W, and no bulb is supplied. Brightness and light colour are therefore yours to choose: 4000 K is the usual pick for a garage or utility room, 2700–3000 K for living spaces.

The manufacturer states that the fitting can be dimmed as long as the light source is suitable for it — so a dimmable GU10 lamp and a dimmer in the circuit are both needed. The fitting itself runs on 230 V and connects straight to the ceiling cable.

Build and the direction of the light

The body is made of aluminium and the whole fitting weighs 110 g. The reflector has a smooth, brushed surface with a silver sheen and narrows towards the top, so the light of a directional GU10 lamp leaves in a tightened beam downwards instead of brightening the housing itself.

The white ring is the only part left in view after installation: on a white ceiling it almost disappears, against a darker finish it stands out clearly.
