Ideal Lux GUN PL1 in white paint, code 122663, is a short cylindrical ceiling luminaire for outdoor soffits. The body is painted aluminium; the light opening is closed by a borosilicate (Pyrex) glass diffuser. It does not hang on a cable — it screws directly to a ceiling, canopy or porch soffit.
At 11 cm diameter and 11.5 cm height the cylinder projects only a little below the ceiling. That same 11 cm circle is the fixing footprint: measure the spot and confirm the substrate can take a Class I luminaire with a protective earth. Net weight is 0.49 kg, so the issue is anchor capacity in concrete, timber or plaster, not the mass of the fitting.
Lamp and installation
No bulb is included. The holder takes one replaceable GU10 rated at no more than 28 W. The manufacturer’s example is a 5 W, 430 lm, 4000 K lamp — a recommendation only; colour and output come with the bulb you buy. Light leaves along the cylinder axis, so the fitting lights the floor or table beneath it rather than washing a wall to the side.
The datasheet lists the luminaire as non-dimmable. Any dimming therefore depends on the chosen GU10 and the wiring; the housing is not a driver. Supply is 220–240 V AC and no separate transformer is required. Installation belongs to a qualified electrician: isolate the supply, connect the earth correctly and tighten fixings into the actual ceiling material. The supplied plugs may not match your substrate.
Outdoors: rain, dust and knocks
IP55 covers dust and water jets, so the white cylinder can sit under a terrace roof, on a balcony, in a gazebo or above an entrance where rain and wind reach it. It is not a submersible fitting and not for a pool basin. IK06 describes moderate impact resistance of the housing; cracked protective glass must still be replaced with a documented spare before the luminaire goes back outside.
The manufacturer’s warranty is 5 years and applies to the fitting, not the separately purchased GU10. Once mounted you are left with a plain modern cylinder and a smooth white coat — no arms, decorative shade or tilt. Use it where a small downward light on a covered outdoor surface is enough, not as a post lantern or a façade floodlight.
