Outdoor wall light NORLYS Basel 671ST stainless steel LED 9.5W 3000K with motion sensor

Basel 671ST is a NORLYS outdoor wall light with a microwave motion sensor, built as a flat, rectangular fitting 31 cm high. The front is stainless steel and the base is powder-coated cast aluminium. The centre is a satin safety-glass diffuser crossed by two horizontal bands.

Motion and twilight sensor

The fitting has a built-in microwave motion sensor with a twilight switch and motion hold: the light comes on when someone enters the sensor's range, stays on while it detects movement and switches off after the set time. No separate sensor on the facade and no extra wiring are needed.

From the factory the sensor is set to 100% detection area, a 5-second hold time and the twilight threshold switched off. In that state the light also reacts to movement in daylight and goes off after a few seconds, so the manufacturer recommends adjusting the range, on-time and twilight threshold to the installation site after mounting, following the enclosed instructions.

Light and light source

The integrated Philips Fortimo LED module draws 9.5 W, and the source itself delivers 1080 lm at 3000 K, a warm white. The satin glass diffuses the light, so individual LEDs are not visible. A ULOR of 9% means only a small share of the light goes upwards, above the fitting.

The manufacturer states an L70 lifetime of more than 50,000 hours. The LED module is replaced by a professional service, and a service kit, ZS671zx0009, is available for this fitting.

Installation and connection

The fitting is 31 cm high, 21 cm wide and 13 cm deep, and weighs 2.9 kg. It is screwed to the wall through two ø4.5 mm holes spaced 138 × 50 mm apart. The terminals take conductors up to 3 × 2.5 mm², and the fitting can be looped through with cable up to 3 × 1.5 mm², so several lights on one facade can run from a single supply line. The cable gland takes round cable with a diameter of 7–10.5 mm.

The light is protection class I and must be connected to a protective earth, and IP54 means it is protected against dust and water splashes from any direction. Installation and servicing must be carried out by a suitably qualified person. The stainless-steel front has the natural silver colour of the metal, with no paint coating.
