PASADENA GU10 SQ II is a rectangular recessed downlight with a frame of brushed aluminium in a natural, unlacquered finish. Two round rings sit in the frame, each with its own GU10 lampholder, and each tilts independently of the other.

The ceiling opening you need to prepare

The mounting hole measures 8 × 16 cm and the frame, at 17.4 × 9.2 cm, covers its edges. The fitting is held in the opening by spring clips, visible in the photograph taken from below, so no separate carrier frame is needed once the hole is cut.

The manufacturer gives a recess depth of 14 cm, and that is the figure to check before buying: this much clear space has to remain above the ceiling board. The fitting will not go into a shallow suspended ceiling. It weighs 0.4 kg in total.

Which bulbs to buy

The fitting has two GU10 lampholders and connects straight to a 230 V supply, with no transformer. Bulbs are not included. The manufacturer states a maximum of 7 W per socket — a limit GU10 LED bulbs stay within; a 50 W halogen will not go in here.

Both bulbs are bought separately and they decide the light colour: over a worktop usually 3000–4000 K, in a living room 2700–3000 K. The manufacturer notes that the fitting can only be dimmed if the bulbs are described as dimmable and work with a dimmer.

Aiming the light

Each ring tilts through 30° and turns through 350°, so the two beams are set independently. That is the difference between a recessed fitting shining straight down and a spot lighting a specific place — a picture on the wall, a section of worktop or a shelf.
