OCANA LE41717 is a pendant shaped as a flat ring 60.5 cm across, hung on three thin steel cables below a round black ceiling rose. The hoop is matte black, but a densely faceted acrylic band runs round its upper edge - a row of tiny prisms that, once lit, break the light into hundreds of pinpoint sparkles.
The light goes up
This is the model's defining feature and the easiest thing to miss in a catalogue photo: the light band sits on top of the ring, not underneath it. The underside of the hoop is smooth and black, with no diffuser. In practice that means OCANA lights the ceiling and the room gets the reflection - soft, shadowless, with no glowing surface in the eyeline of anyone sitting beneath it. The faceted acrylic adds an effect of its own: seen from the side the ring sparkles like a row of crystals, so the fitting reads by day as well as at night.
How much light
The integrated LED module draws 29 W and delivers 1684 lm, about 58 lm/W. At 3000 K the light is warm. The consequence of indirect lighting is worth planning for: some of the output stays on the ceiling, so the amount actually reaching a tabletop is lower than from a downward-facing fitting of the same wattage. OCANA works as general and atmospheric light in a living or dining room with a pale ceiling; over a table used for work or reading, add task lighting alongside it.
Suspension
The manufacturer gives an overall height of 120 cm - a cable suspension measured from ceiling to the lower edge of the ring. The cables are thin and effectively invisible from a distance, so the ring appears to float. At 60.5 cm across this is a fitting for spaces where it has room to work: over a round table, in an open-plan living room, or in a stairwell where it is seen from two levels.
Build
The materials are aluminium and acrylic. The aluminium hoop carries heat away from the LED module and keeps a sixty-centimetre circle rigid, while the acrylic forms the faceted light band. The finish is matte black with no gloss - against the sparkling acrylic that contrast is what the whole design rests on. The IP20 rating restricts the fitting to dry interiors.
