Rendl HEX Pendant Set WB+TC+CHF+CHC1 230 V E27 max 15 W, White Base, Transparent Cable

HEX is a pendant set made of three parts: a lacquered aluminium ceiling base 8 cm across, a transparent textile cable and a chrome-plated metal E27 lampholder with a ring for a shade. The base is white, and the twisted cores show through the cable insulation.

What comes in the box and what you still need

Those three parts are all the set contains — no bulb and no shade. The holder takes a standard E27 thread on 230 V, and the 15 W the manufacturer quotes is the maximum lamp wattage, not the consumption of the set itself. It is the ceiling you pick a bulb under: an LED of a few watts stays well inside it, and you choose the colour and brightness yourself.

The set wires straight into a 230 V circuit — no driver and no transformer are needed. It can be dimmed, but that depends on fitting a bulb described as dimmable and on having a dimmer in the circuit.

How far the holder hangs below the ceiling

The cable is 150 cm long, so the holder can sit a metre and a half under the ceiling. Over a dining table the drop is usually shortened so that the bottom edge of the bulb or shade ends up 70–80 cm above the tabletop — the light then covers the table without shining into the eyes of anyone seated.

The base measures 8 cm in diameter and 2.7 cm in height, so it covers a standard ceiling box and barely stands proud of the ceiling. The whole set weighs 320 g, so what the fixing has to carry depends mostly on what you hang from it.

Which shades it takes

The holder's ring is made for light shades, and the manufacturer names ARISTA, DELI, JAKARANDA, DOUBLE 40/30 and 55/30, ASPRO 40/30 and 55/30, RON 40/25, 55/30 and 60/19, and TEMPO 30/19 and 50/19. The manufacturer also allows for use on its own, without a shade, with a decorative bulb — the chrome holder then stays part of the look.
