SFERA 36/12 is a conical shade in black metal, 36 cm in diameter and 11.5 cm high, sold separately as an add-on for the Rendl SFERA pendant light. It has a round opening at the top, where the manufacturer's photos show the body of the lamp, and the inside of the shade is black like the outside.

What it works with and what you need to buy

The shade has no lampholder and no light source, so it does not light up on its own. It needs the SFERA pendant: Rendl R14334 in black or R14333 in white. The manufacturer describes that pendant as a minimalist lamp with built-in LED lighting up and down, whose appearance changes precisely by adding a shade.

The manufacturer also offers the same shade in white (SFERA 36/12, R14337), and as an alternative the flat SFERA 35/4 shade. So one SFERA pendant can be given a shape and colour to suit a particular interior without replacing the whole fitting.

Size and finish

At 36 cm in diameter the shade is slightly smaller than the typical 40 cm that keeps good proportions above a table 80–90 cm wide. It therefore suits a narrower table, or hanging several lamps in a row above a kitchen island or a long worktop. The low, wide form, 11.5 cm high, does not block the view between people sitting at the table.

The matt black finish and a plain cone without ornament fit a modern and industrial style. The manufacturer intends this shade for lamps above a dining table and for the living room.
