Strato is an outdoor architectural wall light from Maytoni: a curved grey metal body, open at the top and the bottom, with four lenses set into both edges. It stands 3.7 cm off the wall, so it reads as a strip of light rather than as a lamp.
Where it throws light
Two lenses send light up the wall and two send it down. The beam is 49°, which is distinctly narrow — on a facade it leaves two cones of light rather than an even wash. This is light for picking out the texture of masonry or marking a path, not for lighting a whole driveway.
The fitting gives 400 lm at 3000 K, a warm white close to a traditional incandescent bulb. In brightness that is accent light — enough at a door or on a terrace, while lighting a plot calls for several of them or for a stronger fitting. Colour rendering is Ra 80, so brick and timber keep a natural tone.
Where it can be mounted
IP54 allows mounting on an exposed wall — the housing is dust-protected and resistant to splashing water from any direction, so rain does it no harm. The manufacturer gives an operating range of −40 to +50 °C, which covers a Central European winter without reservation.
The fitting is 12 cm wide and 8 cm high and weighs 0.29 kg — it mounts on a plate screwed to the wall and runs straight off the 230 V supply. It is class I, so an earth conductor has to reach the back box; that is worth checking before buying, particularly on an older outdoor installation.
Light source and running it
The SMD diodes are built in — there is no socket and no replaceable bulb, so when the module reaches the end of its life the whole fitting is replaced. The manufacturer states 50,000 hours of service and gives a 5-year warranty.
Power draw is 4 W and the energy efficiency class is F. It cannot be dimmed, so it does not belong on a circuit with a dimmer.
